WINSNES
Winsnes is owned and occupied by the family and run by Anne Marit Winsnes-Hayes and her English husband, Matt Hayes and is
used as a guesthouse and activity centre. Comprising seven bedrooms it offers full and half board accommodation packages for
guests. The atmosphere at Winsnes is very special – a place of peace and friendship where visitors get to experience and touch
genuine Norwegian culture.
It can be a place for simple relaxation or, for those who want a more active visit, a place to fish, hunt, horseback ride or use as a base for wilderness excursions. Perfect for weekend breaks or for longer holidays, Winsnes weaves a special magic and guests rarely visit just once!
SALMON FISHING Fishing takes place on the Gaula River and our guests enjoy some of the best fly water the river has to offer. Winsnes is part of the Malum Winsnes fishing area, a special zone owned and controlled by local land owners. The Malum Winsnes area have jointly operated the fishing zone since the late eighteen hundreds when the salmon lords arrived. In short, the Malum Winsnes fishing project was way ahead of its time and remains a fine model for modern Norwegian landowners to follow.

TROUT AND GRAYLING FISHING In addition to fine salmon fishing, the Winsnes lodge also offers other fly fishing options for trout and grayling on rivers, streams and lakes. Norway has some of the best light fly fishing in the world in spectacular surroundings. With a variety of venues at our disposal we can create flexible packages for our guests that offer superb possibilities. Some of these venues are a considerable distance from Winsnes but in each and every case we have arranged local guiding with experts and good accommodation in rustic cabins.

NATURE KITCHEN Winsnes is home to the Nature Kitchen where guests can expect wholesome, healthy food and plenty of it. We rarely get any complaints. Anne-Bjorg is our chief chef and most of the recipes are Norwegian. Other dishes are included and we can offer our guests a few British touches such as genuine British tea and marmite!
